As many of you know Dennis Drummond's car was stolen and recovered. Many thanks to ALL of our friends in law enforcement for their quick response. He was lucky in that none of his gear was in the car and there was minimal damage. When checking with my insurance company I found out that NONE of his gear and NONE of my PA was covered on any kind of policy. Due to the high rate of theft and or damage most companies will NOT cover any band equipment. If you use your stuff and make any money with it it is not covered unless you have business insurance. If your name is ever advertised performing at a venue, you, in the insurance companies eyes, made money. The companies that I have checked with that cover businesses are reluctant to write policies for gear. They want you to be an OFFICIAL business, an LLC or something along those lines. All of the working musicians need to check with their insurance carriers to find out if they have coverage.

This is true, Many years ago I had my van broken into in my own driveway and the PA equipment wasnt covered because the insurance company found out that I played out for money. Now I have it insured under business equipment. Make sure your covered.
